New Zealand meets Austria – an interview with Sean Obergawa

  Obergawa neu

 Prof. Edith Noner with Sean

Tell me something about you and where you come from.

My name is Sean and my favourite sport is skiing. I live in the south island, Queenstown. I have a dog called Toi Toi and in Maori Toi Toi means a type of plant that is fluffy and white. Toi Toi is a labradoodle and she loves running. My favourite color is blue and my favourite food is Sushi.

Is there something that surprised you / found interesting about Osttirol/Austria?

In New Zealand we don’t have so many churches. In Austria there are so many churches because […] In Queenstown there is only one big church and some small ones.

What is skiing like in Austria compared to your place in New Zealand?

In New Zealand we have no gondolas going up to the ski area instead we have to go with the car to ski. There is also way more snow here than in Queenstown.

What are the biggest differences between Austria and New Zealand concerning school?

In Austria you have the desks in even rows but it NZ we have round tables and here if ou have your phone you have to pit it in the box but in NZ you can keep the phone. You don’t need to give it to the teacher. The next difference is the backboards here. The blackboards are used for school. In NZ the blackboards are in the museum. We use the TV and computers. The students in NZ also use computers. In NZ we have to wear uniforms at school. People here are so lucky they don’t have to.

What kinds of food have you tried, and what did you like best?

I tried a lot of food here but I think the best is the Schnitzel.

What will you miss when you return to NZ?

I think I will miss the skiing in Austria and also the good cheese and bread here.
